Welcome to Year 7 (2026)

At Queen Elizabeth’s we believe that having a formal uniform not only sets the tone for productive learning, but, crucially, is symbolic of the shared values and aspirations we hold as a School community. Having a corporate identity builds a sense of belonging and pride in the School. When a pupil puts on the QE uniform, they are buying into the ethos of the Elizabethan community. Whether families have high or low incomes, pupils come to School looking the same way. No pupil need then to be concerned about which brands, or items of clothing, they can and can’t afford. The uniform represents commonality among pupils and the equal opportunities that are afforded to them.

The School expects pupils to take pride in their personal appearance. The wearing of uniform is something that extends beyond the physical boundaries of the School. In their journeys to and from School, and when attending educational visits and School fixtures, pupils serve as ambassadors for the School in the wider community.

Orders must be completed by Sunday 17th May, 2026, to ensure they are ready for collection on Induction Day in June

Welcome new parents

Congratulations to both parents and new Year 7 boys on obtaining a place at QE. We are so looking forward to seeing you in September, smartly dressed and ready to embrace life at the School. To succeed in doing this, boys must be properly dressed in uniform that meets our uniform policy.

The School has an on-site School Shop to which boys have full access throughout their time here. Once your son has started here, he will be able to obtain all items required for school life with ease, including any future uniform items. However, before he starts, we give you access to our online shop, which allows you to purchase the full school uniform from the comfort of your home.

Pupils in their first four years at the School will be dressed in the core school uniform. In Years 11-13, boys can then wear a suit that meets uniform policy guidelines. The items that your son must be wearing when he starts at the School in Year 7 in September, are:

  • The School blazer (branded)
  • A School tie (branded) in house colours
  • A light blue coloured shirt
  • A navy blue, v-necked pullover (optional for colder weather)
  • Dark grey, long trousers
  • Plain, black polished shoes with black laces
  • Black, navy or dark grey socks
  • Plain black, navy or dark grey overcoat or anorak which fully covers the blazer

In addition, boys will be required to be suitably turned out for sports, so from September your son will need:

  • House reversible rugby shirt (branded by way of the respective House colour)
  • Navy rugby training top
  • House gym T-shirt (branded by way of the respective House colour)
  • Navy gym shorts
  • Navy rugby shorts
  • Navy rugby socks
  • White sports socks
  • White, non marking gym shoes (indoor)
  • Black rugby boots fitted with approved safety studs
  • Rugby gum shield
  • Plain navy swimming trunks or jammers
  • Swimming goggles (optional)
  • Plain navy kit bag

In addition, we will engage you in the spring term to ensure your son has his cricket whites for the summer term.

We require all boys to adhere to our uniform policy, linked below. Where items are deemed to be unsuitable, pupils will be asked to replace these items and may be sanctioned.

At Queen Elizabeth’s, all boys belong to one of six Houses – named after significant figures in the history of the School. Their House is like a boy’s family at School, with tutor time and some subjects being taught within their House groupings and many boys forming particularly close friendships with those from their form. You will have been informed which House your son is in, please ensure that all items that require House branding have been selected correctly.

Uniform fitting guide

You are joining us at a particularly exciting time, as we introduce an online system for the purchase of uniform. This development removes the need for lengthy appointments or additional visits, allowing orders to be placed conveniently from your home. You will then be able to collect your son’s uniform on Induction day in June.

We have prepared a comprehensive uniform fitting guide for each uniform item required, carefully aligned with the School’s uniform expectations, and all that is needed to make use of this guidance is a tape measure in inches or cm. It is essential that boys arrive at QE in correctly fitting uniform from their very first day; please don’t increase the size of any item of clothing. By following the guidance provided with care, pupils will present themselves in a manner that reflects the high standards of the School from the outset. Please find the uniform fitting guide, linked below.

Uniform bundles

In order to ensure a smooth and well-prepared start for new Year 7 pupils, we have introduced a selection of discounted bundles comprising all essential uniform and academic equipment needed for September entry. Whilst not mandatory, these bundles have been carefully assembled, drawing upon the experience and considered feedback of staff, pupils, and parents alike. For instance, each bundle includes two ties, reflecting our knowledge that such items are easily misplaced.

Parents should first select their preferred bundle, and then further items may be added to your basket as required. These include accessories, supplementary academic materials, and additional clothing items such as extra pairs of trousers. When complete, proceed to the checkout where debit and credit cards are accepted for payment. Please note, that once you have purchased items, it will not be possible to obtain a refund, however we will be able to facilitate exchanges. We will contact parents on how to exchange items after Induction Day.

Accessories, such as those for the colder months, must be plain in black, navy, or dark grey – you will find QE branded hats and scarves in our Shop. Similarly, bags or rucksacks must be of a suitably dark colour, with any logos or designs kept discreet. For this reason, we have sourced an ideal school bag, available in the Shop (instore and online) which most of our boys have. You’ll find this featured in our ‘Ultimate’ bundle! Please note that bags on wheels, or those resembling small suitcases, are not permitted.

FAQ’s

Questions? You’re in the right place!

This section covers the most common things people ask, with clear and straightforward answers to help you find what you need quickly. If you’re still unsure about anything, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help.

Can I purchase extra uniform from the shop after my initial bundle?

Yes! If you make further orders online over the summer, they will be ready for your son to collect in September when he is at school.

Alternatively, as many boys at QE do, you can top up your son’s ParentPay account and send him to the school shop to purchase this himself. Don’t worry, we will ensure he is buying the correct size to fit him!

My son's blazer sleeves are too long, can I exchange it?

Our blazer sleeves may feel quite long, as they are designed to be tailored to the required length for your son.

To ensure a smart and polished appearance from the start, it is important that the sleeves are adjusted to the correct length beforehand.

This alteration can be easily achieved by turning the sleeves inward and securing them with a few discreet tacking stitches along the seam on either side.

I need to exchange an item of clothing, what do I do?

We have designed our uniform fitting guide to the specification of each item, however on the rare occasions you have chosen the incorrect size, we have a limited number of exchange appointments available. We will contact parents in due course with the available appointments, to be held in the School Shop.

An item I have received is faulty, what can I do?

Every order is packed by one of our staff and checked over with diligence, so we hope this never happens. In the very rare cases it does, please take photos of the fault and email them to [email protected], with a brief description of the issue, your son’s name and form group. We will get back to you at our earliest opportunity with a resolution.

Can my son try the items on in advance?

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to facilitate trying the items on in advance. Please refer to the uniform fitting guide, which shows you exactly how to measure your son and choose the correct sizes.
